“Imagine a stage production of the Disney movie ‘Coco,’” Rennie said.Īnother is “Cenicienta: A Bilingual Cinderella Story” at 2 p.m. It uses traditional regional music and dance from Mexico to tell the story of a 12-year-old girl. This touring bilingual (Spanish and English) and bicultural musical is geared toward young audiences and families. Opening Poway OnStage’s season will be “Sugar Skull: A Dia de Muertos Musical Adventure” at 2 p.m. “Our stock in trade is to have national and international acts, but we heard from our audience that they also have other shows in mind - those that are multigenerational, for families and young people,” he said, adding, “Families and seniors like matinees.” New for this coming season are bilingual shows for the family and matinees in response to audience requests, Rennie said.

“Our goal is to have great headline acts that the Poway audience can be proud of,” said Michael Rennie, Poway OnStage president and CEO, of the 2022-23 Professional Performance Series announced on June 14. A mix of music legends, tribute acts and family oriented, multicultural fare are among the 10 shows to be presented by Poway OnStage during its upcoming season.
